Vietnam Grade 10 Specialized High School Entrance Exam 2026-2027
Vietnam's Kỳ Thi Chuyên Vào Lớp 10 (Specialized Grade 10 Entrance Exam) is the gateway for academically strong students to enter elite public high schools that offer advanced curricula in mathematics, sciences, literature, or foreign languages. Held annually by provincial Departments of Education and Training, the 2026-2027 cycle will test students completing Grade 9 (typically age 14-15) on two to three subjects depending on the specialization — usually Mathematics plus the specialized subject (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Literature, English) and sometimes a general aptitude component.
The exams are significantly more difficult than the standard public high school entrance test, requiring deep conceptual understanding, multi-step problem solving, and the ability to apply knowledge in unfamiliar contexts. Questions often extend beyond the standard Grade 9 curriculum into early Grade 10 material or olympiad-style reasoning. Successful candidates gain access to schools with stronger peer groups, experienced teachers, and a track record of university placement.
Preparation typically begins 12-18 months before the exam. Students work through past papers from their target province, attend supplementary classes (học thêm), and focus on mastering core techniques — such as algebraic manipulation, geometric proof strategies, or literary analysis frameworks — rather than memorizing solutions. Time management under exam conditions is critical; many able students lose marks by spending too long on a single hard problem.
OjasaLearn supports this journey with adaptive practice that identifies each student's gaps, an AI tutor that explains the reasoning behind every solution, and progress tracking that shows readiness trends across the full syllabus.
