Every non-verbal reasoning puzzle hides its rule in one of six things: shape, size, shading, number, position or direction. Professor Hoot the owl shows each one with examples, then you spot what changes between two shapes.
Five shapes, and one breaks the rule. Shelly the turtle uses the NVR checklist to see that the shapes are all different, but four have one dot and one has two. Then find the odd one out by its shading, and learn to ignore the things that change on purpose.
Three shapes share a hidden rule. Which option belongs with them? Ellie the elephant finds what the group has in common (a small black circle inside) and checks each option. Then find which option belongs with three striped shapes.
A white square becomes a black square. So what does a white circle become? Bruno the bear works out the change in the first pair, then makes exactly the same change to the second shape. Then solve an analogy where the shape turns upside down.
